PUERTO RICO ICE RINKS

This page was created in light of the NUMEROUS emails I have receive and I suppose I will continue to receive as time continues about the rinks scheduled to open in the Island of Puerto Rico.  Although I have no control of the opening of these facilities (although I wish I did - it would held us tremendously!!), I do have some little information.  As I do get the tidbits of information I will do my best to pass them along here.  PLEASE NOTE THAT IF IT IS NOT IN HERE ON THIS PAGE IT MEANS THAT I HAVE NO FURTHER INFORMATION.  Many people are under the impression that I am privy to all sorts of information.  That can't be further from the truth.  I am located in Southern New Jersey a couple thousand miles from the Island and I get second and even third hand information sometimes!  If you have more information that you can contribute to this list, please contact me as soon as possible.

  • HATO REY - The most highly anticipated is the "Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot".   (for more information on who he was - Visit El Nuevo Dia's Salute to Don Cholito)  This building has been renamed about 10 times and the project has been delayed over 7 years now and built on the Golden Mile (where the major banks of San Juan, PR are located) in the city of Hato Rey, Puerto Rico (a suburb of San Juan).  The rink is a Multimillion dollar Coliseum - 16,500 seating (for ice events) so the idea of regular skating hours is not feasible.  There will be no public sessions!

  • Opened September, 2004!!

  • AGUADILLA - Located along the beachfront in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico (West of the Island).  It is about the size of Junior hockey (115'x62') and set along the beach in a mall on Route 442.   They hope to get coaches to come to the Island to teach local skaters.  It is also part of an effort to put money into the facilities to build tourism in the west (which is their main purpose since everyone tends to stay in the eastern cities like San Juan).

  • Opened October, 2004!!!
